Celebrating 60 years of Impact, Excellence & Purpose
Rooted in the belief that education is the strongest tool for empowerment, the Udaan Project was launched by Gujarat Refinery English Medium School as a heartfelt initiative to uplift children from marginalized communities. In collaboration with NGO Giants Barodian, the project aimed to bridge the educational gap by providing essential learning kits to those who need them the most. What makes Udaan truly special is the spirit of collective giving—a humble contribution of ₹1 per day by staff members helped raise funds, resulting in the distribution of over 1,500 educational kits. Each kit was more than just a set of books and stationery—it was a symbol of hope, dignity, and opportunity, igniting young dreams that may have otherwise remained unspoken. Udaan embodies the essence of our Diamond Jubilee celebration—giving wings to others as we rise together.
As the world grapples with the consequences of environmental degradation, the school took a powerful step toward healing the planet with a large-scale Plantation Drive, launched as part of our Diamond Jubilee celebrations. With deep-rooted values of sustainability and stewardship, students came together to plant over 1,700 saplings across localities including Undera, Koyali, Bajwa, Subhanpura, Chhani, Karachiya, and Karodiya. This was more than an environmental campaign—it was a movement of hope and responsibility, where each sapling planted symbolized a commitment to cleaner air, cooler cities, and a greener future. Students actively engaged in understanding local ecology, tree care, and climate action, making this a deeply immersive learning experience. Beyond just planting trees, they were sowing the seeds of awareness, ownership, and lasting change—reminding us all that every great forest begins with a single step... or in our case, a single child planting a tree.
Launched on International Plastic Bag Free Day (3rd July), this drive mobilized students to collect plastic waste from homes and neighbourhoods. To motivate participation, Plastic Warrior stickers were added to students' diaries, and Plastic Warrior badges were awarded. So far, students have collected over 360 kg of plastic waste, which has been handed over to ECO-Vision, a certified plastic waste management firm, for recycling. This initiative is a small yet impactful step towards building a plastic- free and sustainable future.
